Taichu A feature that characterizes the artists of the new generation of Argentine urban music is the debut on stage without having previously gone through the process of recording an album. Taichu is no exception, their singles are listened to by thousands of people and set the stage for what's to come. As a member of the RipGang collective, which includes characters such as Dillom, Muerejoven and Saramalacara, his image is hypnotic and unpredictable. Added to the production of her video clips is her innovative aesthetic, between glam emo, the ingenious Spanglish of her lyrics and gel nails.

It will screen, among others, films by Peter Brook, Jirí Menzel, Jean Renoir, Salvatore Samperi, Andrei Tarkovski, Margarethe von Trotta and Henri Verneuil. All on film. Today Paisa will be screened, the second of Roberto Rossellini's trilogy made up of Rome, open city, Paisa and Germany, year zero. A cosmic trajectory Mubi continues to present cycles of great exponents of contemporary auteur cinema. Although Denis Villeneuve did not start his career with hundreds of millions of studio dollars at his disposal, a celestial and metaphysical fascination can be seen from his earliest films. The seeds of his daring cosmic visions are spread in these restored early works. Among the titles offered by the platform are Cosmos (1996), Remolino (2000) and Un 32 de Agosto en la Tierra (1998).

The bidders Like mythological beings who return to perform an ancient ritual, the characters in the bestiary that Carla Grunauer brings together in this first individual exhibition in a museum transmit the magical presence of archaic gods, half human and half animal, reincarnated in new modernist forms that they give a strange and suggestive luminosity. After a career focused on drawing and painting, Grunauer develops an unprecedented sculptural work, with pieces in which biological forms seem to recreate the vital process of soft creatures in constant trance and metamorphosis. Along with a series of paintings made with fiber on polyethylene fabric from which parts of skeletons or bone remains seem to emerge, the exhibition brings together a set of works in which the fragmentation and organic transformation of bodies make up a powerful image of offering and sacrifice.
At the Museum of Modern Art, Av. San Juan 350. Tickets: $250.

The La Plata school The Museum of Contemporary Art of Buenos Aires together with the Aldo Rubino Foundation and the Friends of MACBA Association present the exhibition in which Gabriela Boer, Juan D'Lala and Pablo Morgante, three young and established contemporary artists born in the city of La Plata, meet for the first time to review some of the central points of contemporary geometric and abstract art created by artists born and trained in that city who, with different styles, have left an indelible mark on a national and international level. “Boer, D'Lala and Morgante live, create and travel in the city of La Plata and, from their works, it is possible to imagine an atlas of abstractions and figures, of austerity and excess, of references and originality, of games of contemporary art”, affirmed the curator Natalia Taccetta.
At the Museum of Contemporary Art of Buenos Aires, Av. San Juan 328. Tickets: $200.
María Malandro It is about a projected identity, an otherness that enables unlikely aesthetic interconnections that radically coexist, a third world hooligan heroine. Without fear of engulfing the contrasts and shrillness generated by power differences, Melisa Rheingrüber uses the color palette proposed by carioca funk to paint a violent state of things with false innocence. The paintings are erected around a community of udus endowed with anima that scream in silence, sing their lamentations, cry with joy and generate a sinister tenderness in us. Brick by brick, at the speed of mushrooms, the artist builds a visual universe as magical as it is logical, impossible and –at the same time– anchored to the quicksand of reality.
Until December 30 at Moria, Thames 608. Free.

Silvia The documentary tells the story of a magnetic woman, as fragile as she is resilient, who, despite fighting battles against her own ghosts, knew how to give herself, knew how to love. It is a chronicle about being a mother, being a daughter, about unspoken words, and about how love, even when it hurt, managed to prevail over the pain and mistakes made. In an attempt to reconstruct Silvia's life, the director investigates a story impregnated with omissions. It is a documentary film made entirely with family VHS footage, directed and edited by María Silvia Esteve based on her own script. It had its premiere at the Amsterdam International Festival in 2018.

The dialogue Some time ago Gustavo Nieto printed on a luminous mirror “The most important encounter is the encounter with oneself”. The phrase quoted the end of Yves Saint Laurent's farewell speech from his legendary couture house. Gustavo's work extracted the mild victory of the heroic path, the conquest of the most elusive and tricky knowledge, the one that says: I know who I am, underneath all these masks, I know who I am. Five years after YSL, he takes up the question of the encounter but at the point that is linked to the other, an event no less difficult or enigmatic. The dialogue is composed of five images that evoke the galaxies closest to ours: Canis Major Dwarf, Sagittarius Elliptical Dwarf, Large Magellanic Cloud, Boötes Dwarf, Small Magellanic Cloud.

Rayos de la Niñez The indie group from the southern area of Greater Buenos Aires was formed in 2015. Their musical style is defined as 'uwupop'. Since its inception, the band has been able to connect and empathize with a young and unique audience, both Argentine and Latin American, thanks to the creativity of its lyrics, its lunfardo and distinctive expressiveness, as well as its audiovisual proposal and the personality of its members, who has become a fundamental voice for the new generations. His compositions are soundtracks about adolescent emotions that play with the absurd and the everyday: love, heartbreak, failures, frustrations, melancholy and confusion are usual themes, which are mixed with a fresh, energetic and somewhat tender sound, full of catchy choirs to dance to. without fear.

Projects and other games With the support of the Clorindo Testa Foundation, the Del Infinito gallery approaches the work of a fundamental artist within the collection of Argentine artists who made a difference by their way of interpreting reality, by their corpus of ideas transformed into works materials, as well as many others preserved in a conceptual reverberation that has managed to filter through and stimulate the creative thinking of his contemporaries and future generations. Paintings, sculptures, installations, are put in dialogue with models and drawings on paper of various architectural projects that were literally "rejected" in the competitions where they were presented.

Cositas The works presented by Mónica Millán inhabit an uncertain space, but not exempt from genealogies, within the History of Art. There is something in them that uncomfortably refers to concrete orthodoxy, to the stereotyped narrative of the "point and line on the plane", to the so-called primacy of intellectual processes over liberated creation and to the clearly false idea of a single universal language. . That presence of the manual, the non-industrial, the everyday, the non-serial and the vulnerable make these complex pieces knots where multiple times intersect, as in a plot. The time of modernism, questioned today. The time of making each piece. The time of existence of each fabric. The time also of the questioning of the past to the modernist canon, updated at each stitch.
In Piedras Gallery, Av. Rivadavia 2625. Free.
