SHE once went to work in a shop on the bus and came back in a £1.5m Bugatti sports car.

As the girlfriend of soccer icon Cristiano Ronaldo, Georgina Rodríguez is one of the most followed women on social media.

Her life in the lap of luxury is the subject of Netflix's new documentary I Am Georgina, which debuts Thursday to commemorate her 28th birthday.

However, don't expect a full account of her rise from her humble beginnings.

Despite her hints of a tough upbringing, the show presents a doctored look at the life of the woman in Manchester United's Ronaldo's life.

There is no mention of the rape complaints made against her in 2005 and 2009, which were later withdrawn; nor of tensions in her family in the midst of claims from relatives that the model has left them out of it.

Although she insists that "Nothing in life has ever been easy," I Am Georgina is the television equivalent of her Instagram account: it depicts a serene marriage, beautiful children, and lavish spending.

Recalling the early days of her romance, when Ronaldo picked her up from her job as a sales assistant at a Gucci store in Madrid, Georgina says: “I would get there by bus and leave in a Bugatti.

“I went from selling luxury items to wearing them on the red carpet. I have millions of followers and I am the wife of the most followed man in the world.”

She is the mother of her daughter Alana, four years old, and is pregnant with twins.

The footballer has three other children, whose mothers are not publicly known: Cristiano Jr, 11, and twins Mateo and Eva, four.

Georgina teases a rags-to-riches story, but the show's first two episodes barely scratch the glossy surface.

Ronaldo was first accused of raping Kathryn Mayorga, who waived her right to anonymity, at a Las Vegas hotel 12 years ago.

She settled out of court, paying him $375,000 in 2009, though the former model and school teacher later claimed that she had signed a deal under duress.

Last year, a judge dismissed his attempt to sue Ronaldo for £56m over leaked documents.

The striker has always denied the claims, saying in 2018: "Rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything I am and believe in."

Similarly, the Netflix documentary overlooks Georgina's uncle, Jesús Hernández, who called her "evil" for not telling him where her late brother Jorge, her father, is buried.

George died in 2019.

He said: "I have written on Cristiano's Facebook, 'You have the most evil woman by your side' and, 'If you want to know, contact me, I will tell you.'"

Staying well away from such difficult subjects, the doctor instead delights in displays of dizzying extravagance.

Georgina opens the doors to her homes in Turin, where Ronaldo played for three seasons starting in 2018 with Italian giants Juventus, and Madrid, as well as her private jet and a £5.5m yacht.

She says it took her a while to get used to his opulent lifestyle, including the £4.8million house in Madrid he bought when he signed for Real in a world record £80million transfer in 2009.

The mansion, in the very expensive urbanization La Finca, has indoor and outdoor pools, a gym and a soccer field where Cristiano Jr is seen perfecting his soccer skills.

A peek into the showroom-style garage reveals a fleet of supercars that includes two Rolls-Royces, Ferraris, and a Bugatti.

Georgina says wistfully: “The first time I went to Cristiano's house I got lost every time I went to the kitchen for water.

“Sometimes it took me half an hour to get back from the room because I didn't know the way. it was so big. Ever since I was a child, I had gotten used to living in small apartments.

“After half a year, I got to know where everything was.”

“After half a year, I got to know where everything was.”

Now installed as the lady of the house, Georgina is seen instructing an interior designer on a makeover to make the décor “more homogeneous”, saying, “Don't mix patterns with marble, with lights. Don't buy plastic flowers. Don't get new books.

Her £40m real estate empire also includes a mountainside mansion in Turin, with two adjoining villas, which became her home when Ronaldo agreed his £100m move to Juventus.

Filmed before Ronaldo's return to Manchester United last year, when the family moved to this country, Georgina reveals that she fears the prospect of another change.

She says: “I love living in Turin. Everything is close. If we want snow, we go to the snow.

“If we want a more cosmopolitan day, we go to Milan. If we want the sea, we go to Monaco.

“Staying in Turin depends on many things but above all on Cris. I don't ask for much in that sense because at the end of the day I'm happy at home.

“I work from home, I take care of my children and they are super happy wherever we go because we have the resources to get them to the best schools and the best extracurricular activities. But I would like to stay a little longer.”

Georgina is seen flying to Paris on the couple's plane, the interior of which features leather sofas and monogrammed cushions, to visit designer Jean Paul Gaultier's studio.

There, she delights in trying on dresses for a trip to Cannes.

Showing that she is more than used to her lifestyle, she says, “The jet makes traveling easier. If I had to spend two hours in an airport with Cristiano, I would go crazy. I prefer not to travel.

She hosts a Grand Prix weekend in Monaco aboard the 90-foot yacht called CG Mare, inviting her "darlings" of hers, a close-knit group that includes friends from her days at Gucci and her older sister Ivana.

The gang was summoned, we found out, with a last minute text message,

“You always have to have your bags packed with my sister,” says Ivana.

“You never know what the next surprise will be. If you blink, you miss the adventure.”

Other jaw-dropping moments include Georgina's conversation with a travel agent about her upcoming summer vacation, when she lists a list of requirements for her private villa.

These include "plenty of rooms and a private pool, easy access to the dock for a smaller boat, and a piece of land to walk around with the kids and not have to leave the villa to take them out for a walk."

She adds that a gym is not necessary because if there is a free room, "we bring the machines."

Georgina is passionate about talking about her wardrobe of designer clothes, shoes, and bags.

She enthuses: “I love Hermes, I love Gucci, I love Prada. He is so feminine. I love Louis Vuitton. I love Decathlon! I love Nike. I love all the brands. I have a very particular style.

“They have tried to change my style many times, but if I don't feel like myself, I don't use it. I don't want to go out there unsafe."

Georgina appears to have resisted hiring a nanny and runs the school herself. . . albeit with a security guard driving the car.

She says: “I am grateful that I have the freedom to not have to get up at 7am and come home at 9pm like many moms. I have the financial means to stay at home.

“I am aware that I have the opportunity to take care of the children myself. They mean everything to me."

Originally from Argentina, Georgina grew up in the Spanish region of Murcia and always had a “strong maternal instinct”.

Recalling her childhood, she says: “Before I went to school, I used to play with my little kitchen and the cribs.

“I left them ready so that when I came back I would take them for a walk around my tiny house. They were well taken care of."

Ronaldo says children are her "whole life," adding, "They are something I always dreamed of: having a big family."

“I am very, very happy to know that (Georgina) is the ideal person to raise our children well and educate them, love them and take care of them.

"With four children, three of them are basically little kids and if you don't have a mother who supports you in that way, even if you are the best father in the world, I think you fall short."

When it comes to children, Georgina wants to represent her daily life as normal.

She says: “We are like any other family. We have breakfast together, Cris is going to train, I prepare what needs to be prepared.

“If I have to take care of the house, I will do it, or a vacation, a trip, a future career project, my children.

For me, my house is my temple, a place to disconnect, there I have the peace that I need.

“I feel a sense of family, they value me, pamper and love me. Sometimes I think 'Man, I'm so happy'".

She adds, “I don't consider myself a freak but I do consider myself a lucky woman because I know what it's like to have nothing and I know what it's like to have everything.

“When I was little, I dreamed of having a wonderful family, building a home.

“I used to dream of a prince charming by my side. And now I have one, with wonderful children who give me a lot of love.

"And yes, I can say, 'Dreams do come true.'"
