With the slogan #TodosConBauti, on Sunday, November 21 at 9 in the morning, they will run a marathon and a benefit march for Bautista, a nine-month-old boy who suffers from the progressive genetic disease Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1. To improve his quality of life, he needs the drug Zolgensma, valued at 2 million dollars.
SMA is a progressive genetic disease that prevents the proper development of muscles and generates weakness, to the point of preventing basic functions such as breathing and eating; and Zolgensma is the closest thing to a cure, taking into account that, by means of a virus, the gene that the patient lacks (smn1) is introduced. The drug has a value of 2 million dollars and can only be applied before the age of 2 or reaching 14 kilos of weight.
As part of a series of initiatives that family and friends are carrying out to make the case visible and raise funds to acquire the medication that Bautista needs, next Sunday the 21st a solidarity marathon and march will be held, organized by the Circle of Veteran Athletes , the Physical Education Teachers of the Alessandro Manzoni Institute and the Municipality of La Plata.
As reported, the marathon will begin at 9, will have as its starting point the Paseo del Bosque and includes a competitive race of 5 kilometers and a participatory runner of 2.5 kilometers; while, in the same place and at the same time, a competitive Nordic walking of 5 kilometers and a participatory one of 2.5 kilometers will be carried out.
