New research shows that this hormone is involved in the sexual behavior of men and women
Testosterone is the main sex hormone in men, although it is also present in the body of women, in smaller amounts. For boys, testosterone is key during puberty, contributing to body hair growth, muscle development, and voice change. In adult men, it controls sexual desire, maintains muscle mass, and helps produce sperm.
But testosterone influences other issues as well. It seems to be significantly related to the type of intimate relationships and sexual behavior, both in men and women. This is confirmed by new research published in The Journal of Sex Research.
