The National Autonomous University of Mexico organizes the “Te abrigo” collection, with which it seeks to collect clothes to donate to homeless people and to those who are in shelters. The invitation is open to alumni, organizations and society in general.
Clothing in good condition and blankets can be delivered from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., on the ground floor of the General Directorate of Guidance and Educational Attention (DGOAE) b>, located between the faculties of Architecture and Engineering, in front of “las islas”, in Ciudad Universitaria. The collection ends on December 3.
This strategy, explained the director of Social Service and Volunteering of the university entity, Claudia Navarrete García, is part of the dynamic carried out by the National University, in order to to promote and institutionally recognize volunteering.

What is collected will be given to HandsOn. Then, “they invite us to make a representative delivery of the university collection at some point. That gives certainty of where the donation that, with good intentions, is given by the university community goes.”

In addition, Claudia Navarrete suggested that the donors write a message of solidarity, hugs and accompaniment for the population that will receive the garments.
The university volunteers have developed, throughout this year, various tasks in favor of society, explained Navarrete. A collection of school materials and supplies was recently carried out for students from multi-grade schools belonging to the National Council for Educational Promotion (Conafe) (Conafe) in remote communities, who did not stop attending classes during the pandemic because there is no internet in their localities and it was not possible to implement distance education either. The collection will be delivered in the coming days to a campus in Villa del Carbón, State of Mexico, he stated.
Today the university has the possibility of naming, promoting and recognizing these actions through certificates that for students, academics and workers represent the possibility of enriching professional and social curricula.
